ET-2 Upgrade service is available for any ethermometer in a metal enclosure (s/n 33000-33421). The new version began shipping in January of 2009 - if your ethermometer was purchased in late December 2008 or later, you already have this firmware and do not need this upgrade. Upgrading to the new firmware adds DHCP support, SNMP V.1 monitoring support, DNS mailserver lookup, and improved alarm handling/reporting. DHCP support and DNS mailserver lookup make setup simpler and faster. You can still set the ET2 to a static IP address using etherset or the web interface of the device. Mailserver lookup means you no longer have to know the IP address of your SMTP server, just the mail server name, like smtp.myserver.com, or mail.myserver.com, or something similar. SNMP support includes traps for instantaneous alarm reprting to your 3rd party SNMP monitoring software and out ET-2 MIB for active SNMP querrying of the ethermometer. The new and improved alarm handler supports stacks of up to 20 alarms deep so multiple back to back alarms occurring when your email server may be slow or unable to accept the emails, should no longer result in a missing alarm. The new alarm stack also allows for very accurate SNMP alarms, and no need to limit SNMP traps' frequency within the ET-2. Purchase of upgrade service includes UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail shipping back to you. Customer is responsible for shipping their ET-2 to us for upgrade service.
